Moulton Club Weekend 9-11 Aug ’24

! Please note this is a Moulton Bicycle Club Members only event!

Venue: Moulton Bicycle Company, Holt Road, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1AH
As requested by many members at last September's meeting, we have moved the event into the school holidays to enable more families to attend. We hope more families will choose to join us. Free entrance for the under 18’s when accompanied by adults.

A range of Moulton themed activities are planned, suitable for all ages.
As you are probably aware things have changed on your committee. One significant decision made was to reschedule the marquee from this year to next year as this coincides with the Club's 50th anniversary in 2025. As a result there will not be a club meal this year.
The main activity of Saturday evening will be the BBQs on the croquet lawn at the Hall, however you may prefer to go to Bradford on Avon town to find something to eat. There is the Dandy Lion which has good food and Timbrell’s Yard which we have visited in the past after rides when it was known as the Riverside.

There are many other smaller pubs, cafes, restaurants & hotels in the town and in the immediate surrounding area.
For those family members who may not be so keen on Moulton bicycles for the whole weekend you could always book on a Hall tour or even stay in the Hall for the weekend with the Alex Moulton Charitable Trust (AMCT), book direct with them at www.moultontrust.org
Also you may wish to check out the Bradford on Avon visitor Information website www.bradfordonavon.co.uk for activity inspiration in and around town.
The Club is happy for you to bring your well behaved & quiet dog(s) to the weekend whether you are camping or just visiting on the Saturday, kindly clean up after the inevitable.
And finally, our RAFFLE, we will need you to donate prizes for the raffle.
Hope to see you in Bradford on Avon

Moulton Preservation Ride

Laying down my Moulton, before the iron gate

Quickly rang the bell, hoping I hadn't come too late

But someone came along and told me I was just on time

And when I asked him how he knew he said, 'Just look behind.'

Please join us on 24 July for the annual 'Michael Woolf's Moulton Preservation Ride.' The ride that celebrates restoring and riding of F-

Frame Moultons.

Dust down your F-Frame Moultons* and join Robert and Clive for a gentle soiree around Richmond Park. Be part of one of the largest gatherings of F-Frame Moultons and celebrate the true spirit of The Moulton Bicycle Club.

Meet at Roehampton Gate Car Park (free parking) to set off at 10.30 am.

The ride is a very leisurely pace of about 12 miles in length, mainly off road, following the Tamsin Trail.

The ride is ideal for those who prefer a gentle amble on their F-Frames.

There is one optional hill towards the end of the ride.

There are plenty of refreshment stops en route and places of interest to see, with a picnic lunch at Pembroke Lodge.

Bring your own food or buy snacks from Pembroke Lodge kiosk nearby.

The event ends at Roehampton Gate Tea Rooms and disperses by about 3.30 pm.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Robert & Clive.

NB: The ride falls within the Ultra Low Emission Zone.

* No F-Frame? No problem, come on any Moulton bicycle!

MBC Spring Meeting: Sat. 13th April 2024

The group pic outside the Moulton Bicycle Company factory gates.

Saturday dawned a bright and sunny day and as a result the April meeting of the Moulton Bicycle Club was blessed with great weather.  As usual the April meeting was a casual meeting, focussed on people meeting and catching up.  We are grateful to the Moulton Bicycle Company who facilitated this by providing refreshments including Jubilee Tea, F Frame Coffee and XTB Soup.  I am happy to report that there were no bicycle parts in any of those.

The Company also put on an interesting wheel building demonstration in the factory.  Darren was kind enough to share with us his expertise and some of his top tips on building wheels.  After lunch we headed off on rides in two different directions.  A flattish rise along the canal and a slightly longer (23 mile) to Lacock.  Before setting off we marked Alex Moulton’s 104th birthday earlier this month and remembered those who were not there this year by ringing our bicycle bells for 30 seconds.

Overall we had a wonderful day.  The sun stayed out and a good time was had by all.  Thanks must go to Mark Taylor on the committee for arranging the event and to the Moulton Bicycle Company for their great efforts to provide interest to the day.
