Given the difficulty in sourcing replacement bronze bushes for APB rear suspension’s I’m looking at getting some machined up. The minimum quantity from my supplier is 100 pieces, i.e. 50 sets.

If anybody is keen to be part of a bulk order please let me know. Price would be approx GBP12 per pair plus a small charge to cover postage.

My close off date for orders will be 30 June 2015, I will need firm orders for 25 sets to proceed.

If you have any questions feel free to ask on this forum, or email me directly info-at-moorhouse-dot-net-dot-nz

    Thanks

    David

Hello David, Thankyou for this initiative. Do you happen to know if these bushes will fit on AM(7) too?

does seem to be appalling spares back up for these newer moultons, i have it on good authority you can get practically anything for a brompton going back to 1988

Hans, the key dimensions are 1/2″ID x 5/8″ OD with a flange. I don’t have access to an AM7 to check.

flanged oilite (sintered bronze, oil-filled) bushes are readily available in 1/2″ ID, 5/8″ OD form. For example

    http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=3_4511_4771

has a choice for about £3-£4 each.

In some applications a custom-made solid bushing is more durable, but only if it is lubricated properly, eg fitted with a grease nipple that is used on a regular basis.

    cheers

Just to close this thread off, I only received 3 enquiries so the order will not be going ahead.

Damn. had I seen this I would have asked for a couple of sets. Still would not have been enough.

I wonder if the club could bankroll an order and ask MP to stock. I was stunned when I asked a month or two ago and found that Moulton could not supply replacement bushes for my 2002 APB

That bearing supplier looks interesting though. Will measure my bushes and see if they have anything suitable

    Gary,
May be useful to give David Price of Cycle Service Sales a ring on 077333 77818.
He used to advertise in the Moultoneer.
    Alex
