    Hi Moultoneers!
Do we know if the black plastic block fixed to the Brompton’s (very short!) steerer tube will do duty on the same of an F frame Moulton – there’s a very tempting threaded boss already there, of course, just waiting to have the block applied!

I’m sure one could be adapted to secure into the Moultons rack fixing point. Take care not to damage the 1/4 inch imperial thread & remember it’s quite a shallow depth hole. The block would probably need to be prevented from swinging on the single fixing point somehow though. Good luck.

Cheers, Clive – I knew I’d addressed this issue already but couldn’t find any posts. Y’day I found out why! – see link
The Brom(P)ton luggage block arrived this morning and the plan is to add it to an F frame Moulton frame, in order to mount the battery bag for an electric front hub motor, supplied by the Good Folk at nano, whoch specialise in Brom(P)ton electic conversions, one of which I already have.
Possible disapproval from Moultoneers who might object to the thought of my spoiling a ’60s frame is mitigated by the fact that the frame was already in a fairly “adapted” state when I bought it back in 1995!

It’s your Moulton so it’s your choice what you do with it. I have converted my hybrid bike to pedal assist. Keep up the good work.

Alex Moulton was always looking forward and looking for ways to enhance his designs – but he tended to dismiss ideas that weren’t his! The Brompton block is brilliant but I don’t think a single boss is enough to mount it. I would silver solder a plate like the Brompton one. Or, if you want save your paint make a stainless steel clip that clamps round the frame with a Brompton type fitting attached to it.

If you haven’t done silver soldering it very easy and cheap blowlamp from B@Q will produce a flame of 1600 deg C

I’ve just made a nice strong rear carrier for my TSR from £9 worth of B@Q 10mm steel tube. Maybe a rear mounted Brompton Block bracket next!
