At the last minute, before heading out on a long ride at the weekend, I noticed some cable fraying on my TSR30 at the weekend. When I put the replacement campagnolo compatible cable into the cable splitter it pulled right through the hole!

My befuddled brain took a while to figure out what was going on. It seems that the hole is sized correctly to hold a shimano compatible cable, and slightly too big to hold a campagnolo cable.

Am I missing something? Wouldn’t it make sense to change the spec on these splitters to work with either type of cable, especially since the TSR is supplied with campagnolo drivetrain as standard?

I usually use a the end of one of the links from a nokon cable link.
(the ones that are metal and made of small sections of tube )
The have a little ball and socket arrangement at the end of each link.
Chop off the ball and thread the cable through, you will find the whole lot can fit inside the connector!

I have some old brass washers, bought years ago when I thought I wanted to build lots of SA hub wheels. I slip one of those on the cable and it’s worked well so far.

Since Campag is OEM on TSR30s…

    Hey ho!

That’s a great idea David, especially since I have a supply of them in the garage 🙂
