Hi All, please feel free to leave feedback on the website. Let me know what works for you, what doesn’t and what you’d like to see in the future. If I can be of any assistance, send a message to @admin or an email to webmaster@moultonbuzz.com
November 12, 2011 at 7:41 pm #2821Alexander JohnstonParticipantUnder “models” there’s no mention of the Mini!
AlexNovember 13, 2011 at 9:16 am #2822adminKeymasterGood point, when I get all of the technical stuff out of the way, I’ll get back to improving the content. If you’d like to contribute to a Mini article, let me know. All help gratefully accepted!
November 13, 2011 at 8:55 pm #2823kenneth buttterfieldMemberYes I agree…let’s have that mini article Alexander!
November 15, 2011 at 7:17 pm #2824Alexander JohnstonParticipantAlright then but first I’ve have to do my research. I shall assume that there are no time constraints on the production of my “Mini” article and that plagiarism is acceptable.
AlexNovember 15, 2011 at 11:09 pm #2825Alexander JohnstonParticipantI’ve drafted a short article on Moulton Minis drawing heavily from Brian Perkin’s Bicycle Hub material and emailed it to Ansley Brown.
AlexNovember 16, 2011 at 9:30 am #2826adminKeymasterGood stuff Alex, you might just have found yourself a job! Just make sure that Brian doesn’t have a problem with anything being borrowed, though maybe you can cite him as a reference.
November 16, 2011 at 11:23 am #2827Alexander JohnstonParticipantI’ve emailed Brian and told him that I’ve drawn heavily on his material. I’ve also referred to his excellent Bicycle Hub website and his leading role as in the MBC Moulton Mini Rescue initiative at the end of the “article”.
I’ll also send him a copy of the article.
AlexNovember 17, 2011 at 7:47 am #2828Alexander JohnstonParticipantHi Admin
You asked for responses on the new website so here goes.
First, I hope the hyperlinks (or whatever they’re called) to Moulton Buzz, Bicycle Hub and Flicker etc. are reinstated in the new site. I found these the most interesting components of the old site; they were enthuiastic, well-written, used colour and photographs and were packed with information.
Second, I suggest the Classified Section needs reconsideration. For a start it would be helpful if sellers included photographs, contact details and were encouraged to state a price.
It might also be helpful if advertisments were automatically deleted after a period of time, say 6 months, and new entrants to the lists highlighted.
The Classified list is potentially one of the main attractions of the site as it gives members an early opportunity to buy or sell bikes and components from other members, but I get the impression that it’s a bit moribund at present and “losing out” to Ebay.
I appreciate that all this is easier said than done and others may have different ideas.
Thanks
AlexNovember 18, 2011 at 8:47 am #2829Alexander JohnstonParticipantHi Admin
Another short point if I may, again under Models.
I note that the article on the TSR is still “under construction”.
The TSR has been available for several years and I am led to believe that it’s the most successful modern Moulton.
Anyone joining the Club with a view to buying a modern Moulton would undoubtedly benefit from being able to read about it and to find out about it. IMO the Club should provide that opportunity as a matter of prority.
Thanks
AlexNovember 18, 2011 at 4:07 pm #2830IanParticipantTo Alex’s comment about the TSR, the APB section is also devoid of content.
Short of the chapter in Tony Hadlend’s Spaceframe book (which was published 18 years ago) there is really not much about them out there. I have never seen a picture of ‘my’ APB (a post Land Rover, 531 framed ‘3×7’) and there is sparse detail about any of them out there.
Perhaps if Moulton/Pashley would give out details of the numbers made, in what colours and some of the specs of the old models it would be a great source of info.
November 18, 2011 at 4:50 pm #2831kenneth buttterfieldMemberAgreed folks, The spaceframe models should be better represented, and I am sure that every model has it’s own enthusiastic fans well able to write the story.
I know that the “Land Rover” has it’s own strong following, who had a display at BoA in recent years?
I am pretty sure that we can find specialists able to document the AM7, ATB, TSR etc etc and I would also find information useful…but sadly I am no expert…kenNovember 18, 2011 at 9:37 pm #2832Alexander JohnstonParticipantOne way of going about it might be for a first draft to be written on the APB and the same for the TSR with reference to numbers left blank such as “Between x and y ****** APBs were produced.”
Then the draft articles could be cascaded to Dan Farrell, Shaun Moulton and other experts asking them to fill in the blanks and to suggest any changes or additions they would like to be made to the rest of the articles.
I’m sure that something useful, interesting and informative could be prepared if a first draft were written which could then be cascaded to “experts” for their comments.
I prepared a first draft on Moulton Minis without having seen or ridden one and frankly knowing little or nothing about Moultons in particular and bicycles in general.
In the case of TSRs there a number of sources which would enable someone to prepare a first draft for others to throw coconuts at such as, for example, the TSR brochure; the Moulton Bicycle Company website; and the various comments and information available on the Yahoo forum.
AlexNovember 21, 2011 at 9:33 am #2833Alexander JohnstonParticipantI see that there are links to Bicycle Hub, Flicker etc. below the rides’ diary which I hadn’t previously noticed.
This is excellent.
AlexNovember 30, 2011 at 8:09 pm #2834Clive BlackmanParticipantCLASSIFIEDS
I am trying to update or delete and update with a photograph my advertisement for my New Series bicycle on the classifieds pages. However, although I am logged on, I am unable to see any way to either edit or delete my old advertisement or to add a new one. Can you please advise?Thank you.
November 30, 2011 at 10:23 pm #2835adminKeymasterHi @clive, the classifieds functionality is not quite complete. Send me the details and I’ll make the ad changes. webmaster@moultonbuzz.com
January 22, 2012 at 5:07 pm #2836Gerry LeachMemberJust tried to download Moultoneer-94. Both Adobe Reader and Foxit claim that it is either not a pdf, or is corrupted.
EDIT: tried again, all OK. I think I tried too soon after belatedly renewing my subscription, and got rubbish.
