My local branch of Fudges (Epsom) is willing to give discounts on spares, clothing, accessories, etc. to Moulton Bicycle Club members, except for sale items. Nice friendly bike-riding people – Geoff has a TSR that he is very enthusiastic about. I’ve no connection but if you’re in the area it’s worth asking.

Great news Tim, I did suggest some time ago that any dealer who offers a discount to members have a free advert in the moultoneer then members know and my use the dealer as a preferd supplyer and reap the benifits of lower prices, and the dealer gains custom and keeps thier business boyant we all are winners….( It aint rocket sience)

Fudges are a serious bike shop, when so many of the main-stream bicycle shops are no longer such, but outlets which sell bikes but not as “bikes”, but sporting goods or fashion items that happen to be bicycles.
This afternoon I entered three such outlets, situated in trendy Shoreditch / Brick Lane, one outlet had an old scrap yard Dawes frame, missing much of its paint, , with a price tag of £600, its raison d’etre for such desirabilty? Pre-distressed conveying instant street-cred for the trust-funded public schooled pseudo-working classes, cockney-mockneys riding the cycling catwalk for all it is worth

    Probably not.

You’ll find out if you try to sell it on the open market David. The asking price of some hipster shop is not evidence of value whatsoever – I saw a 1950’s Picquot Ware tea set (pot, milk jug, sugar bowl and tray) with a £249 price tag(!) in some similar sort of place, when you can regularly get identical sets for £25-£35 on ebay.

One makes more of an impact on a pre-distressed F frame.
