i think moulton preservation might keep some ,otherwise ebay ,maybe buy a cheap rusty wreck to cannibilise and lastly what happened to the original? if they’re bent it maybe possible to straighten, had this done to motorcycle forks

Is there a such thing as a cheap moulton anymore? they arent bent, the stool inside is mashed and bent, this is brazed inside the tube, not repairable, certainly not by me anyway.

occasionally, i bought a rusty frame for ยฃ40 and it’s good for front and rear forks which i needed, wheels were shot, not quite sure what you mean by the damage description but there’s a lot of small engineering places who can work miracles

that does sound difficult to repair but it’s the boa weekend soon there’s bound to be someone selling one, the main thing is not to throw the old one away as the rubber spring etc can still be useful

never seen anything that cheap, interestingly the bidding on the mysterious green moulton seems to be stuck at 180, they must read these columns!

ok,ive managed to reassemble the front forks all good, thanks to a new screw and a dollop of patience ๐Ÿ™‚ i now have a new issue,i cant seem to get the top bearing lock nut down far enough to adjust the bearings correctly.it seems to bottom out before its tight against the spacer washer, and i can unscrew the bearing race a little bit. im wondering wether the threaded part of the steerer tube is too long slightly?this would certainly explain the completely destroyed lower bearing race that was on it! Any thoughts?

i had something like this on an old raleigh racer last year when i was fitting a pair of front forks that weren’t original (i bought the frame and it had no forks) i got a large washer from the plumbing section of b and q (there are other plumbing shops) and it took up the slack, it would sound like this is connected with the stool problem. even a nylon washer would probably do the trick
