Does anyone know where it might be possible to get hold of a headste for a Mk1 F frame . Specifically the bottom race cup and bearings, the top part seems pretty standard but the components at teh bottom of the head tube seem to be a very odd (unobtainable ?) size . Just under 1.5 inch .

Hi Michael
Perhaps you could use a 1.125″ bearing as I did when I bought a Standard that looked as though the top nut had come loose, the lower ball bearings had fallen out and the aluminium race was scored beyond use. Not quite the same but it did allow swift re-greasing as it used a caged set of ball bearings.
I ground down the existing lower race to just the bit that sits inside the headtube. That acted as a shim to hold a 1.125″ lower race. The 1.125″ crown race was shimmed with a piece of aerosol can.
Hopefully, this will keep you on the road.
