i saw an old black apb in Cambridge a fortnight ago with a wonderful little glossy black hard case trunk fitted to the rear rack. it said ‘cavern, london’, complete with key lock. the trunk had been drilled through the base and fitted with brackets. as yet ive not had any luck finding anything quite as stylish, but perhaps some of you might have suggestions? or perhaps the owner might speak out??? many thanks./

    It probably said ‘Craven, London’.

Craven of Elm Grove(?) used to make motorcycle luggage, panniers and top-boxes as well as some fairings from the 50’s until the early 80’s. but I don’t think they exist any more.

    They live, it seems.

Wow! I did not know they were making them again. If they are as well made as they used to be they might be rather heavy for bicycle use.

In one of those Cosmic Supply moments Amazon sent me an email this morning listing, amongst other things, a ‘cargo box’ http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001EVAYFK

If, as I suspect, they are designed for Victorian safety bicycles and are actually too small for Moulton carriers and I wanted a lockable box I’d look at small motorcycle ones the Chinese imports sometimes have. They are cheap enough. http://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk/partno_YM0866B.php
