Hi, my first time on the forum since Yahoo Groups ceased. I wore out my original Karrimor rear bag many years ago and have since managed just strapping various bags to the rear carrier. For my daily commute I use a waterproof Altura Pannier, which works quite well but is not as practical as the dedicated Moulton bag. I certainly like the look of the current Moulton Large rear bag but not the price (£220)! What alternatives do others use or does anyone have Moulton rear bag they no longer need and would like to sell?

    Cheers, Ian

Carradice make a couple of rack bags. This website won’t let me put a link in.

Hi Keith, Thanks for your reply. I’ve looked at various rack bags including the excellent offerings from Caradice but none of them are big enough for my needs. I need something that is big enough to take a laptop computer plus anything else I might want to carry (I generally bring home shopping).

Take a look at fishing tackle bags. Large, waterproof, & plenty of points for fixing to a rear rack.

Maybe too late but I have a Carradice Pendle which I like. Made in Lancashire I believe. It seems a bit old school but even after a few years it doesn’t look like it will ever wear out. Just about big enough for a lightweight weekend away or the laptop on the commute. A bit small for shopping though.

I did have to buy the Bagman rack as well to stop it touching the back of my legs when it swung. The combo works really well with no sway that I can detect.

I had a replica of an F frame front bag made by a chap in Weston-super-Mare. It was about £60, which was pretty reasonable given that he had no pattern, just an existing bag to work from. I asked for cotton duck to match a rear bag, and he was able to get the same stuff used by Carradice. He’s on the Internet as Mack Workshop. Took about a month as he does it in his spare time.
