    Afternoon All

This is my first post on this forum so please be patient with me. I think I’m about to ask lots of obvious questions. I have recently become interested in Moultons and am planning on buying a Series 1 or 2 F frame and giving it a complete restoration using a mix of original and modern replacement parts and have several questions on sizing of the parts so here goes……
Wheel OLN’s – front I’ve found out is 100mm but have seen 111mm and 117mm quoted for rear drop outs? Hoping to do a spot of hub stripping and renovating a 4 speed but may end up using an SA 5 speed so is there anything I need to bear in mind if going down this route?
Headset – top is a standard 1″? with bottom being a Moulton’s own size? Are replacements hard to come by?
Stem – is this a standard 1″ quill?
Bottom Bracket – understand this is a standard 68mm but offset to the left by 2mm so will need to fit spacers?
Can anyone tell me what the seat post diameter is please. Is it easily replaceable or are there shims and things involved?

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

    Cheers

    Chris

Correct regarding headset, stem and bottom bracket. Replacement Moulton headsets would be difficult to find.

    Hi Chris,

I have just finished such a project. Headset bottom races are rare (order rocking horse manure while you’re at it) Michael from Moulton preservation has apparently got some in good nick so drop him a line. Top race as you say is a standard 1 inch threaded.

For my bottom bracket I have fitted a 122mm square taper on a Dahon 52 tooth chainset. This gave me a good chainline to the SA 5 speed (SRF5N) rear hub. Yhe OLN is 119mm on mine and fits fine just make sure you get the thick tab washers or the nuts are a bit short.

If I can be of furthe help please just drop me an email.
