Can anyone recommend a shot blaster/painter where I can get the above bike resprayed in South London/Surrey area?. I am restoring intending to use mostly original parts, Can anyone tell me if I can fit a non cottered chain wheel to this frame or what type I need.
    thanks

Gordon, when renovating Molly (my 66 standard) I changed the bottom bracket for a 122mm square taper. I then put a 52tooth dahon chainset on it. The chainline works with the SRF5N rear hub I used. Not sure what the chainline dimensions are for the 4speed hub.

Can send you pics if needed.

    Thanks Les,
The Frame is currently being painted. When it comes back I will decide what to do either put all the original bits back on it or replace with newer. I also have a Moulton Deluxe 4 speed which I intend to rebuild after I see how this project goes and think that I will rebuild with newer parts.

    Dear Gordon
I also have recently purchased a 3 speed mini that needs restoring.
Where did you have the painting done?
I live close to Crystal Palace

With regard to a cotterless chainwheel on the Super 4, this is a Raleigh 14 inch wheel machine , virtually a scaled down 7/8 version of the 16 inch wheeled F Frame and there is the question of does it use Raleigh threading for the cups and the length of the bottom bracket which may be longer than most readily available cartridge bearing sets

See the link for an introduction:

    Moulton super 4 – bottom bracket shell width is – Early M1 = 2 19/32 or 66mm. later Raleigh produced m1 and m1/4 = 3″ (76mm

Lovely little bikes and IMHO should be more appreciated.
All the Super 4s I’ve seen have the brazed frame, rotated seat tube and alloy rims.
My daughter’s must be the earlier M1 because if has the shorter bottom bracket shell width, the plain domed sectioned mudguards and only one rear mudguard stay.
Apparently even Bletchley Park hasn’t been able to decipher the numbering system.
The number on the seat tube is 900292 and there is no Kirkby designation on the other side of the seat tube.
I don’t know if any Super 4s have the Kirkby designation.

Thanks for the replies everyone, the frame was powder coated here:
http://www.willowpowdercoating.co.uk, a very helpful owner called Richard. There were a few broken suspension parts when I took it apart which I need to source to start the restoration.
