Simply the question is…how? I must say I find myself at a bit of a loss so far on this one.I asked Michael W. and even he did’nt know.I presume the funny little pin sticking out of the housing has something to do with it but am loath to do anything without further knowledge.Any suggestions, anyone?

Sorry I always used to try and ignore this piece of engineering by assuming that it was pressed in and thus not a removeable part?
I seem to recall that the mk3 stand was removeable with a pin holding it in?

Why not get a rusted out bent example and take an angle grinder to it …in the cause of research!

I think it was ian Kew who found a detail “how to do it” on a raleigh chopper page, it is the first time I have seen it explained. The link can be found on the yahoo moulton group message pages about three weeks ago.

That’s right John, and I have made a tool from a bit of old 20mm dia tube and have removed successfully removed two stands!.

I found the way to do it here – http://homepage.ntlworld.com/catfoodrob/choppers/mechanic/stand.html

Dead easy when you know how! (Although I didn’t use a G clamp, just one of those cheap 150mm ‘speed clamp’ things.)

For the Major, the stand was redesigned, same arrangement of a pin through a bored hole in the stand, in the raised position the pin is captive, in the lowered position , a slot aligns with the pin which can then be released by hammer and punch

Good old Moultoneers, the Chopper site had it all,it’s dead easy when you see it laid out like that, only thing is ,I think someone already had a go at this one as the pin looks a little the worse for wear, though I think it’ll be all right if I’m careful. Thanks for that.
