The upgraded TSR 30 – the SST-22 – will be on view at BoA this year along with the TSR 30.
Standard spec. is a compact 2×11 crankset.
I’ve established however that it will take a triple like the TSR 30.
I’ve been told that the only new triple currently available is the Shimano Ultega.
I much prefer a triple to a compact. IMHO compacts are being pushed by manufacturers because they are easier and cheaper to make.
IMO they are inferior and don’t provide such a wide range of gearing which becomes increasingly useful the longer you draw your pension.

Do you imagine that the factory will not offer an SST30 in time? I would not be surprised to see an extended SST range in the future – but they are building them at BoA so expect these things to go a bit slowly….. 😉

The problem is that the major component manufacturers are ceasing production of triple road cranks and, more importantly, the associated brake/ shift levers. Most riders using drop bars want to use Ergopower or STI levers.

    It is a problem.
A triple gives you a much lower lowest gear than any double which can be of great benefit to the tourist and elderly.
Also can’t see the sense in 11 speed. Where is it going to end?
I have 10 speed on my TSR 30 and I often have to shift twice because I don’t notice any difference when I change once.
For most cyclists 9 speed is fine IMHO.
I’m boycotting compacts and 11 speed.

It’s the cycling components industry’s take on superstore marketing.
Instead of buy 1 get 1 free (BOGOF) it’s buy 2 pay for 3 (BTPFT).
