I am considering moving from conventional to Moulton – but have never had the chance to ride one! I currently enjoy riding my Dawes Galaxy (a real one, not a modern one!).

Is there anyone in Cheltenham or Gloucester area that has a TSR or APB that I could hop on for ten minutes to try one out?

And then – I’m in the market for one…

John, you aren’t that far from Avon Cyclery in Bath, or the Moulton factory in Bradford on Avon, either would give you a test ride. Otherwise, try asking on the Yahoo Groups Moulton group.

Dear Readers – I bought one (from an advert on these pages).

I have recently bought an early (green) Pashely APB and its a delight.

As bought the front suspension was seized, so I stripped down, removed the piston, filed it down a little and re-assembled with a light lithium grease. The bike is fine to ride when its cold, the front suspension is smooth over the full range of travel.

However when its warm, the front suspension stiffens up considerably. I suspect the nylon suspension spring piston grows slightly when it is warm and is jamming in the steering tube.

Is it possible to buy a fresh suspension piston (and the later one with the rebated body)? If so where from and how much.

Alternatively, how would I remove a few thou’ of an inch from the existing one and at the same time improve the surface finish (which is a bit rough).

    Best Wishes

The more recent plastic plugs are of a better material which doesn’t expand, buy from Pashley or Moulton.

I live in Bath and my Pashley Moulton gets a hammering in all weathers. I just let AVC in Bath periodically rebuild the front suspension. It’s always money well spent!

Hi gents: they are hard to find but Fudges Cycles would buy one in for me… trouble is I was off on a cycling holiday and could not wait. So I bought some Delryn from eBay, and borrowed a lathe, and made myslef a new piston. Not too difficult – and has transformed the bike. I now know why Moultoneers are happy people!!
