I’ve got an F-frame, and have replaced a number of components with new ones (eg alloy rims, SA front drum brake, NOS Duomatic hub, and Nitto bars and stem).

However, I’m not sure that the suspension is working properly. It’s a been a few weeks since I last rode the bike, so my memory is a little dim… It seemed to cope with bumps okay, but on rough roads where the top surface has worn away, it’s a really uncomfortable ride. It rattles me around something terrible! It’s a bit like pushing a shopping trolley across a car park. Is this normal for these F-Frame bikes? (I’d also be interested to know if a TSR would cope any better). When out of the saddle and honking up hills I can feel the front suspension moving, but there’s a slight squeak. The bike has Schwalbe Kojaks (I probably put around 90psi in them).

Does it operate smoothly when you try it at a standstill?

I would wonder if there is a ‘squeak’ and seems to ‘rattle you around’ that something is a bit stiff in there that should not be?

I think it seems okay at a standstill. However, this is the only Moulton I’ve ridden, so I don’t know if it’s a bad example! I was expecting a ‘magic carpet’ ride, and although it rides well over bumps and pot-holes, it’s like the suspension disappears on rough roads.

The movement should be visible and smooth. are you sure its not bottomed out ? I have preloaded mine by 3/4″
