The good news is that the website and our email addresses have not been hacked!

The Moulton Bicycle Club website has a feature that allows registered users to send private messages to each other. When you receive a new private message, an automatic email is sent to your email address telling you about the new message, and showing you the contents of the message. The email is sent from webmaster@moultonbuzz.com.

This is typical of many forum and social media websites.

On 21st of November, a user with seemingly little interest in Moulton bicycles, registered on the website and subsequently sent a message to a number of members.

The user in question was identified and prevented from sending further messages. However, it was too late to prevent the notification email being sent to the recipients’ email addresses.

Rest assured that we take security seriously and will be doing everything we can to prevent a repeat.

    Sincere apologies for the intrusion.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and your explanation of what happened.

I thought as much as the Email I received emanated from the Moulton Buzz site and not directly from a third party.

You do a fantastic job and I for one am very grateful to you for all you do for the club’s members.

    All the best,

    Mal
