    Hi All,

I’ve had my Moulton NS on sale for a while – see classifieds section. I received the following enquiry recently:

i just want know if you can ship to Czech and accept credit card as
mode of payment (Visa,Amex or MasterCard)..i need you to get back to
me very urgent because i need to make some order also get back to me
with list of all product or website..reply back to this
    e-mail:{mark.johnson201@yahoo.co.uk}

    thanks

    best regards

    Mr Mark

I believe this to be from a fraudster based on poor grammar, suspect payment request etc. (apologies to “Mr. Mark” if I’m wrong). I didn’t respond. My bike is advertised only on this website, so other sellers beware.

    Best regards to all,

    Dave

Yea Dave, Seems kind of odd that they are asking you for a product list or web site… should be pretty obvious that you are a private seller and not a business. I think I would also stay away from that one.

These fraud listings make me remember the time I had a wanted ad out at http://www.harringtonalpine.org for soem extremely scarce Sunbeam Harrington bits. Within a few days of my listing, I had a reply from a guy who claimed to have all of the exact bits i was looking for. He requested me to get back to him right away in order to make a deal. So, I responded and asked for pictures…. but like your fraudster, this guy also didn’t seem to be quite right… grammar, etc. He responded shortly after with pictures of parts that were still attached to a car… that belonged to me! Ha! I sure had fun with him after that! 🙂

The sellers are sat next to those bankers holding your million dollars in Burkina faso ?….although the spam offering me my huge inheritence have slowed and now I get young princesses wanting to reward me for setting up an English university place for them as their father was murdered by a wicked uncle!

I must admit I have experienced real joy from moulton enthusiasts all over the world. I am constantly in touch with many moultoneers I have fortunately been able to help with parts etc.

    John,

That is exactly the value and importance of club forums such as this. The relationships built internationally help to build trust and a “watchdog” effect over the community. I too buy a lot of Moulton parts and they don’t come from folks in the USA… simply because I can’t find them here. Learning the names and reputations of folks in the club helps me to be at ease when sending money over-seas. Moultoneers also do a great job of pointing out bogus fraudsters! Kudos to you all!

Ken, I’ve been waiting patiently for a large inheritance left to me by a long lost relative from Nigeria. You mean to tell me it’s really a scam? :-0 lol…

Thars right Iand and JB…..I too spend lots of time at my PC answering questions like this (from yesterday) :

hi,i saw some book that show speedsix with all campagnolo parts,is it real?

    To which I answered:

Not original …the speedsix was always fitted with the CYCLO P2rear mech, which is a copy of the CAMPAGNOLO GRAN SPORT ITEM…the campy makes a good upgrade, but does not have the moulton designed plate to limit tension and must be locked solid with the fitment of a spacer on the pivot bolt.

I love answering questions like this from Japan and Thailand…I see my flickr as spreading the word about these rare sporting BoA models for all to enjoy?
