Upgrading an AM7

    Dear all
    I have recently inherited an AM7 and have a couple of questions. Any advice would be gratefully received!
    1. I would like to make it into as good a performance bike as possible for fitness training, so is it possible to upgrade it to the spec of something like an AM Speed, with 18+ gears and brake lever gear shifters?
    2. Any ideas on the rough cost of such an upgrade and who could do it for me (I live in Hampshire)?
    3. Any thoughts on year of manufacture, the serial number is 994901?
    It has Shimano RX100 brakes and rear derailleur. Thanks in advance!

    Simon can I recommend that you take a look in THE MOULTONEER where you will find an article on this very subject ?My bike is converted to 18 speed, read on..ken B

    Hi Ken, I’ve been searching back through the Moultoneer archive online but can’t find the article you’re referring to in this thread. Do you remember which issue the article was in at all?

    Sorry Paul, the article is in moultoneer issue 103…Not a definitive guide, but should point in right direction ?…the ex Peter Knottley bike that I use most days for fitness….ken
